for some reason i started answering that question today with a weather forecast. granted, it was my emotional weather, but... actually, it's kind of fun. this morning: cloudy, slight chance of rain this afternoon. this afternoon: sunny, a few scattered high clouds, no rain in sight.
the change in my emotional weather? i took my test, finished in half an hour, and then used the rest of my class time to grab lunch and have an impromptu picnic in the park near work. sitting next to a gurgling stream and listening to cicaidas and watching a huuuuuuuge plane land at a teensy airport over and over again tends to have a good effect on me - at least the first two do. :)
tonight's plans include country/western dancing, which i haven't done in forever and a nap, not necessarily in that order. i don't plan on doing a whole lot.
our summer swing jam was a success - we had around 20 people at the pool party and around 55 at the swing dance that evening. there were quite a few from A&M that we'd never seen before! very exciting! :)
a couple of nights ago i got an urge to start painting again. it took me two hours to figure out what to paint, a half hour to sketch out two tulips and transfer them to watercolor paper, and then an hour and a half or so last night to paint one. i think i'm going to like this series. i scanned in my bird series also - you can find the birds and the tulips on my watercolor page as they are finished.
other than that, i've been traipsing to houston on sundays, entertaining a swing dancer moving from DC, going to dinner with friends, griping about my data comm class (iew), publishing the august issue of mays business online, designing a new student site for the college, and ...that's all. isn't that enough?
i have to share as well - i've been reading the love poems of elizabeth and robert browning, especially "sonnets from the portuguese."
...Fire is bright,
Let temple burn, or flax; an equal light
Leaps in the flame from cedar-plank or weed:
And love is fire. And when I say at need
I love thee. . . mark! . . . I love thee - in thy sight
I stand transfigured, glorified aright...
Who wouldn't wish for the type of love that prompts an outpouring like that from the soul?
ok, so it's been a month exactly since the last time I updated. i've been busy with school and work and a little bit of swing dancing...
the aforementioned performance went well. look for pictures coming soon.
i got another 'A' - hooray! i still have my 4.0 cumulative gpr. :D this next class might be a challenge since the topic isn't exactly terribly interesting - business data communications - everything from how telephones work to how networks work. *and* a paper. ugh. oh well. better than a group project.
yesterday michael and i went to houston for the fourth of july. it was tons of fun - first to larry and mercedes' for a bbq/dance, then to karen's for more! food and dancing and fireworks. karen lives close to downtown, so we got to go down a couple of blocks and lay in the grass and watch two sets of fireworks simultaneously. it was awesome! :) great fun and great people made for a good day. someone swiped my sunglasses, but hopefully that should resolve itself when someone finds out that the sunglasses they have don't fit their face. hopefully...
well, on to round two of school and a weekend of more partying - our summer swing jam is this weekend. woohoo!
