a few weeks ago i rearranged and cleaned up my balcony area - i set out a folding screen that i had, and a corner shelf that i put plants on. with everything watered and swept, it's really become a restful place. i can't wait until i have chairs and a small table out there so i can enjoy it. it's especially nice in the mornings with the sun slanting in and the soft breeze blowing...
it's rather amazing what random e-mails will do. i saw someone's post on my dulcimer instructor's guestbook and sent him an email since he's at a&m too. he emailed me back and was interested in maybe starting some kind of a group to hold regular jam sessions. :) funny how things like that work out. until then, i'm still hunting among the groups that have advertised jam sessions in the area. we'll see if any of them work out - the bluegrass one won't, i don't think.
if you really must ask, you don't want to know. one of my dad's really corny jokes strikes again...
my bags are packed, i'm ready to go...
it's a bright, sunny day, 73 degrees, little bit of wind - the perfect day for a road trip with the windows rolled down. we'll see if i feel that way at 11 pm this evening when we roll into arkansas. but i've got my allergy medicine, so i'm ready for anything!
lots of people have been asking for a dulcimer recital here lately. i suppose i should start thinking about doing one. after all, i actually feel like i've got a few songs down and under my belt.
and if you're waiting for something from me - whether it's an image or a webpage, email me again. i accidentally wiped my computer here recently and lost *everything* - well, ok. so i had a backup of all the pictures i've taken with the digital camera, but that's about it. the web stuff is gone for sure. but i'm ok! it's just information....
have a good weekend!
that's right, folks. nick and i are packing up and heading on a road trip this weekend to *drum roll* mountain view, arkansas. yes. arkansas. mostly because there's a hammered dulcimer workshop going on there. the thought of driving 11.25 hours to get there though...whew.
other than that, i've been doing lots of stuff at the gym. just a warning - any aerobics class that's only fifteen minutes long is trouble. i know from experience. especially if it's an abs class. one word - ow. you don't realize what muscles you use for everything until they're stiff.
otherwise, playing house, keeping up the patio area (water! i'm watering my plants! they're living! what a concept...) and sleep. oh, and some freelance web stuffs here and there. that's what's keeping me busy.
i'm just now figuring it out, it seems. i finally feel like i'm getting a hold on the things that i have on my to do list thanks to a 4-hour power outage that made it possible for me to leave early yesterday. hooray for goal setting and brain dumping! (um, yeah. see david allen's 'getting things done' or visit his web site.
so anyway...even if i've not got everything done, at least i have a handle on what all i need to do - and that's a start. now to just have a bunch of free time...
i think i'll be hearing that a lot today. something's in the air that's aggravating my allergies.
we mostly got the email thing worked out - it was on purpose, it seems. i'm still waiting for them to switch the emails to another inbox so i don't get false 'you've got mail' messages.
with major projects done, it's time to work on back-burner projects. whee!
someone changed some server setting last night. suddenly all 404s from a couple of our websites are now coming to my e-mail inbox. for those of you keeping score, i currently have received 1,858 email messages. i ended up going to work last night around 9pm to set a filter on my inbox so that my inbox wouldn't overflow and start bouncing. *sigh*
i hope there's a good explanation for this!
