remind me not to go to the races on pacifica day unless i have advanced tickets. all the tickets had been sold to companies, so the only tickets left were standing room only.
monday was...exciting. a couple of people showed up with their cars packed up expecting to move in without calling to find out whether their apartment was ready, sis' car wouldn't start so she had to have it towed, former residents were calling trying to get information about their deposits, my computer wasn't working since the power had gone out over the weekend, and the toilet in the office was overflowing. and this is was just in the first hour of me getting in. oh. did i mention that i was coming down with a migraine too? g was sweet to put up with my whining and sent me an email that cheered me up. my day got much better after i went home for lunch and relaxed away from the office for a bit. at least today was a lot quieter. hopefully the rest of this week is quiet too - we might be sailing this weekend...if mike's boat is working. (ha ha ha.)
it's finally nearing the end of august. every year at the end of july i get amnesia, i think. i can't seem to remember just how hectic the month is! but it's almost over, most of the move-out deposits have been returned, move-ins have slowed to a trickle...
and it's almost my birthday! aie.
sis and s and g and a and p and i are all going to the races - whenever my sister shows up. ;) after that we'll stop at tony's jackal - hopefully a little early so we miss most of the crowd.
but somehow...attitude is everything.
g and i are housesitting for a friend this week and watching mama kitty. (she's a morning cat, that's for sure. she wants attention at 6:30. if you pat her once, it's her snooze alarm. she'll let you alone for 5 minutes or so. but that's another story...) g was making dinner last night. he got the food into the oven, but then the oven door stuck shut. we called jamie to find out if this is something she didn't mention (like the fact that none of the overhead lights in the dining and living rooms seem to have a switch?) or if this is a new development. i guess she thinks the hinge has been about to go out for a bit. (nice to know...) so we ended up taking the oven door off its hinges so we could eat dinner. not sure if we'll be able to cook the pork loin we brought for dinner tonight. we'll see.
but this has been an interesting experience. at least i know he's a bit of a neat freak like me and a good cook. (a duty i'd be happy to relinquish periodically!)
tonight is the best night of the perseid meteor shower. after dancing i think we might hang out in the jacuzzi (if we can turn it on without it breaking!) and watch the stars shoot across the sky for a bit...
oh yeah. now i remember why i don't take time off of work...especially at the end of the month!
but camp hollywood was a blast. i didn't do too badly considering that we haven't competed much. #13/24 in am balboa and #8/22 in pro/am. i ended up sleeping most of the weekend during the day, though, since the week prior had been so hectic. this weekend should be mellow since g's out of town, and i don't have anything going on. guess i'll use it to catch up on stuff and get ready to house sit for a friend next week.
