so i just bought the new switchfoot cd over lunch. my usual mo? download it to my computer, put it on my ipod and jam out on the way home. thanks to sony bmg, i can't do this any longer - at least not at work. (thank goodness i have a mac at home.) on a pc, you can only record in wma protected or atrac, neither of which itunes supports. and since itunes is pretty much the only way to transfer music onto the ipod...you do the math.
seems to me that with ipod holding the majority of the share of the portable music device market, that they would consider allowing at least the aac protected format. heck - i can download from itunes music store - why did i just spend the extra money for the jewel case and booklet when i can't even listen to it on my ipod?? maybe they figure that the majority of the people with ipods are already mac users and therefore the fact that the cd supposedly behaves "like a normal cd" on a mac makes up for it. hopefully this is the case. i'd hate to have to drag the cd around just to listen to it. so much for shuffling it in with the rest of my music...
i'd think that the artists themselves would be a little concerned that all of a sudden they're blocking out a rather large section of the market all because the music company didn't have the foresight to include one more codec on the cd...
hard to believe that it's almost the middle of sept already. my birthday was a lot of fun - then again, even if it had only been the three-day weekend, it would have been fun!
there are lots of trips coming up this fall. it will be nice to get out of town for a little while - i'm ready for a vacation! g and i head to florida a week from friday to play in the sun and rain. hopefully the weather will be nice, though i'm definitely bringing an umbrella. if we're lucky, we'll be there between hurricanes. ;)
