travel
i love
to travel. besides the many times i've been back and forth between texas
and california, i've been to europe and the middle east. my
mom, sister, and i have started traveling together. it's a good time to
catch up with each other, have some fun, and remember why i like being
grown up and out on my own. (just kidding - kinda...) ;) anyway.
as things progress, i'm going to start putting my travel journals here
- provided i've enough perseverence to keep it the entire trip. perhaps
the promise to post it here will be incentive enough.
(most of) my travels so far:
most of western europe - march/april 1994
israel, jordan and egypt - january 2000
seattle, wa - june 2000
- i was in town for a web design conference but still had the opportunity to wander around a bit. highlights for me were pike's market and finding an installation of chihuly glass in the convention center.
san francisco - november 2001
- mom, sis and i met in san francisco for a long weekend.
i kept up with a travel journal for part of the time, but then forgot
to continue it about day 3. we had originally planned on new york, but with all of the anthrax scares in that part of the country, we decided on the west coast. days before our trip, the bridges in ca were threatened. we went anyway.
key west, fl - july 2003
- not a place i would have chosen on my own but i was there for a creativity workshop - not much to do there but drink, but the sunsets were gorgeous, the key lime pie awesome with mile-high meringue, and i enjoyed wandering around and taking pictures...especially in the graveyard. hehe.
scotland and bath - march 2004
- mom, sis and i went to scotland and bath for a week. i faithfully kept a travel journal. it should make an appearance at some point, when i find it from the move.
- pictures (opens in new window)
new york city - october 2004
- this was all about swing dancing as i was in town for the centennial celebration of count basie. i got a little bit of sightseeing in, but i was up until all hours of the night dancing every single night. mostly it just whet my appetite to go back and do some real touring.
other places i want to go in the future...
- trekking in bhutan
- paris/france (again)
- hong kong
- africa (i want to go, and mom wants to go back)
- spain/portugal
- italy
- vienna/austria
- trekking in nepal
- trekking in tibet
- australia
- new zealand
- malaysia/singapore/other pacific rim countries
no, we don't take normal family vacations - those are boring!
